The Management of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has suspended the implementation of the recently revised student charges following further consultations with the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) and other relevant stakeholders.
According to the University Management, the suspension is intended to allow for broader consultations and further consideration of concerns raised by students regarding the revised charges. The Management explained that the review was necessitated by the rising cost of providing essential services and the financial pressures currently facing the University.
The revised charges were introduced to support the provision and maintenance of critical services and facilities, including students’ welfare, security, transportation, utilities and other essential aspects of campus life. However, following representations from the SRC leadership, Management acknowledged the concerns raised by the students and deemed them worthy of further consideration.
Consequently, the implementation of the revised charges has been suspended pending the conclusion of further consultations. Students are advised to remain calm, continue with their academic activities and await further official communication from the University regarding the outcome of the consultation process and the next steps.
